About Fascia&Physio
Hi, my name is Libby Williams. In 2023, I founded Fascia&Physio, and I pride myself on providing a friendly, caring yet professional approach.
As a dedicated Clinical Scar Therapist and registered Physiotherapist, I specialize in providing effective treatment for both old and new surgical and C-section scars. My journey began in the wards, where I witnessed first hand how injuries and surgical outcomes impacted movement and quality of life. This experience ignited my passion for helping individuals overcome the challenges posed by complex injuries and conditions.
I have a deep passion for all things fascia. This connective tissue surrounds your muscles and joints, linking them throughout the body. By focusing treatment on fascia, I can effectively address back pain, neck pain, pelvic pain, scars, and much more. My approach not only minimizes the impact of scars but also promotes easier, better movement, allowing you to return to the activities you love.
With certification in Fascial Manipulation, I mobilize this vital tissue to enhance movement and reduce discomfort. I understand how scars can restrict mobility and create lasting issues, and I’m committed to using targeted therapies to minimize these effects. Collaborating closely with pelvic health physiotherapists, I strive to address the comprehensive needs of my clients, promoting improved pelvic health alongside scar management.
I believe that every surgical journey deserves support and knowledge. I empower my clients with essential information on scar care and when to seek further treatment, helping them embrace their healing process.
My philosophy is simple: “Embracing you to heal more, move more.” Together, we can transform your recovery experience, enabling you to regain confidence, strength, and freedom of movement.
I have clinics located at:
Station House Health and Wellbeing in St Nicholas, west of Cardiff.
Little Green Refills, 9 Market Street, Abergavenny.

Is a Fascia&Physio Treatment right for me?
-
Physiotherapy, to me, is all about improving the quality of your movement. Whether that is to have pain-free movement or to become stronger and more effective in the activities you enjoy.
Fascial Manipulation is very effective at restoring good quality movement and improving dysfunction within the body. When combined with rehabilitation and rebalancing your muscle strength, this can result in pain-free movement, stronger movements and less of that morning stiffness.
-
Trauma, overstrain, or immobilisation are known to trigger areas of “densification” within the deep fascia. Densification is when the lubricant between these layers of fascia, known as Hyaluronic Acid, becomes lengthened, thickened, and stuck.
Densified fascia can cause your receptors to tell you of pain, stiffness, limited movement or even altered sensations. This is due to an unbalanced pull on the receptors within muscles and joints, or on your nerves.
That old ankle sprain really could be causing your back, shoulder pain or headaches!
-
Your fascia has different types of receptors located in it. Some of the receptors discovered include pain receptors, tension and stretch receptors, and hormone receptors.
These receptors all work in slightly different ways, however, if they feed back to the brain informing it of changes within the fascia, one of most common messages is that of pain being felt.
-
Fascial Manipulation helps by assisting the body in breaking down the densification. It is applied to specific points around the body, in a combination suited to your personal history. This whole body approach improves the movement between fascia layers and then subsequently your muscles, organs, and joints.
That stiff feeling you have in the mornings? That is your fascial system warming up and starting to move for the day!
This is not to be confused with Myofascial Release which is an umbrella term for manual techniques used on your muscles.
-
Fascial Manipulation can work when other treatments fail.
Firstly, this technique considers how far ranging your body has changed and compensated its movements to stay pain free. I search from head to hands to feet to find compensations.
Secondly, the body is made up of much more than muscles! By integrating more of the body’s systems into each treatment, outcomes can be improved. Systems considered include the skin, digestive system, reproductive system, urinary system and respiratory system.
-
This will depend on different factors pertaining to your unique history.
Some people can be ‘cured’ in 2 sessions and will not need more treatment. This often occurs in those with recent injuries.
Complex clients will need more treatment sessions, however should remain much improved for months, if not years.
-
“Taking care of the person, not just the muscle, the organ or the joint as separate entities; listening to the body. The goal is to set up a tailored treatment to allow the body to fulfil its potential while accepting its limits.”
Luigi Stecco, Physiotherapist ~ Founder of Fascial Manipulation
